Chainsaw Will Not Start

• Battery not charged: Fully charge the EGO POWER+ battery pack using the approved charger before operating the chainsaw.
• Battery not seated correctly: Remove and reinstall the battery until it locks securely into the battery compartment.
• Safety lockout not pressed: Follow the correct start sequence, usually involving the lockout button, trigger switch, and hand position described in the manual.
• Chain brake engaged: Pull the front hand guard back toward the handle to release the chain brake before cutting.
• Motor overload protection active: Remove the battery, clear the obstruction, allow the tool to cool, and restart only after the bar and chain move freely.

Battery and Charging Problems

• Battery will not charge: Check the wall outlet, charger, battery contacts, battery temperature, and charger indicator lights.
• Short runtime: Fully charge the battery, sharpen the chain, reduce cutting load, and avoid forcing the saw through thick or hard wood.
• Charger light flashing: Follow the charger indicator guide in the manual to identify charging, temperature delay, or battery fault status.
• Battery becomes hot: Stop cutting, remove the battery, and allow it to cool before charging or continuing work.

Chainsaw Starts but Chain Does Not Move

• Chain brake engaged: Make sure the front hand guard is pulled back and the chain brake is released.
• Chain tension too tight: Adjust the chain so it moves freely around the bar while still fitting securely in the guide bar groove.
• Bar and chain jammed: Remove the battery, then clear wood chips, sawdust, dirt, or debris from the bar, sprocket, and chain path.
• Drive sprocket worn: Inspect the sprocket for grooves, damage, or uneven wear that prevents smooth chain movement.
• Chain installed incorrectly: Confirm the cutting teeth face forward on the top side of the guide bar.

Chain Will Not Cut Properly

• Chain is dull: Sharpen or replace the chain if it produces fine dust instead of chips or requires heavy pressure to cut.
• Chain installed backward: Reinstall the chain so the cutters face forward on the top of the guide bar.
• Wrong chain type: Use a chain with the correct pitch, gauge, and drive-link count specified for the bar and sprocket.
• Depth gauges too high: File the depth gauges according to the chain specifications if the chain cuts slowly after sharpening.
• Guide bar worn: Inspect the bar rails, bar groove, nose sprocket, and oil holes for wear, burrs, or blockage.

Chain Comes Loose or Jumps Off

• Chain tension incorrect: Adjust chain tension before use and recheck after the first few cuts with a new chain.
• Side cover or bar nut loose: Tighten the side cover, chain-tension knob, or guide bar nut securely after adjusting chain tension.
• Drive links damaged: Inspect chain drive links for burrs, bending, cracking, or damage after derailment.
• Guide bar worn: Replace the guide bar if the rails are spread, uneven, pinched, or badly worn.
• Sprocket worn: Replace a worn drive sprocket that no longer supports the chain correctly.

Bar and Chain Oiling Problems

• Oil tank empty: Fill the oil tank with proper bar and chain oil before cutting.
• Oil hole blocked: Clean the guide bar oil hole, bar groove, and oil outlet area behind the bar.
• Wrong oil viscosity: Use suitable bar and chain oil for the temperature and cutting conditions.
• Oil cap not sealed: Check the oil cap, gasket, tank opening, and venting area for leaks or poor sealing.
• Oil flow reduced: Remove the battery and clean sawdust buildup from the side cover, oil outlet, bar pad, and sprocket area.

EGO POWER+ 56V Chainsaw Problems

• Power feels weak: Check battery charge, chain sharpness, chain tension, bar lubrication, and cutting technique.
• Tool stops during cutting: Release the trigger, remove the battery, clear the bar and chain, and reduce cutting pressure.
• Runtime is short: Use a fully charged battery with adequate capacity and avoid cutting with a dull or overly tight chain.
• Brushless motor shuts down: Remove the battery, inspect for overload, clear debris, and let the electronics cool before restarting.
• Large cuts feel slow: Sharpen the chain, check oil flow, maintain proper chain tension, and let the saw cut without forcing it.

EGO Top Handle and Pole Saw Problems

• Top-handle saw feels unstable: Confirm both hands are positioned correctly and use the tool only as described in the manual.
• Pole sections feel loose: Stop using the tool and check extension locks, collars, couplers, and shaft alignment.
• Pole saw difficult to control: Use both hands, maintain stable footing, and avoid overreaching or cutting directly overhead.
• Branch pinches the bar: Use proper relief cuts and do not twist the saw while the chain is in the cut.
• Cut is rough: Replace or sharpen the chain and confirm the correct chain direction and tension.

Noise, Vibration and Cutting Performance Problems

• Excessive vibration: Inspect the chain, guide bar, drive sprocket, bar nuts, side cover, and chain tension.
• Rattling noise: Check the side cover, bar nut, chain catcher, handle hardware, pole saw joints, and battery fit.
• Burning smell: Stop cutting and check chain sharpness, chain tension, bar lubrication, motor overload, and cutting pressure.
• Saw pulls to one side: Sharpen cutters evenly and inspect the guide bar rails for uneven wear.
• Bar overheats: Check oil flow, bar groove cleanliness, chain tension, chain sharpness, and cutting technique.

Electrical and Control Problems

• Indicator light appears: Review the model-specific manual to identify overload, temperature, battery, chain brake, or control warnings.
• Trigger does not respond: Remove and reinstall the battery, check the lockout control, and confirm the chain brake is released.
• Repeated shutdown: Reduce cutting load, clean the saw, inspect the chain, and allow the battery and electronics to cool.
• Battery difficult to remove: Check for debris around the battery rails and release button before forcing the pack.
• Charger will not recognize battery: Clean the battery contacts, check battery temperature, and test with another compatible charger if available.

Routine Maintenance Tips

• Remove battery before service: Always remove the battery pack before adjusting chain tension, replacing the chain, cleaning the bar, or performing maintenance.
• Check chain tension: Inspect chain tension before each use and after the first few cuts with a new chain.
• Maintain bar oil: Fill the oil tank before cutting and clean the oil passages regularly.
• Clean after use: Remove sawdust from the side cover, sprocket area, bar groove, oil outlet, chain brake area, and cooling vents.
• Prepare for storage: Remove the battery, clean the tool, lubricate the bar and chain, cover the bar, and store the chainsaw in a dry location.

Safety note: Always remove the battery pack, engage the chain brake where equipped, allow the chain to stop completely, and wear proper protective equipment before adjusting chain tension, replacing the chain, cleaning the bar, or performing maintenance.
